The Peoria Regional Office of Education is proud to announce the Lincoln Senior Award Winners for the 2023-2024 school year. The Lincoln Committee, founded by local community members, worked with local educators to fund the "Lincoln Draws the Line" statue displayed prominently on the Peoria County Courthouse grounds. With the leftover funds, the Lincoln Dinner was established. Since 2003, 16 high school seniors from Peoria County High Schools are recognized for the outstanding citizenship they have displayed along with the exhibition of the traits of Abraham Lincoln.
Additionally, the Jim Cummings Lincoln Leader Award will be given to a community member who reflects the attributes of the 16th president. This year's award winner is awarded posthumously to Ricky Spencer, community leader. He will be represented by members of his family at the recognition dinner.
