Juvenile Charged as an Adult for Shooting Near Manual High

November 16, 2023, Peoria, IL – Today, Jimichael Brown, 16, was charged with Aggravated Battery, a Class X Felony, for shooting a 17-year-old male in the leg near Manual High School on November 9.  Due to his age and the charge, it is an automatic transfer to adult felony court.   Brown is currently in the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center, and a hearing on the State’s petition to detain will be held tomorrow.

 

As previously reported by the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of W. Ann, on a shot spotter alert around 7:30 a.m. on November 9. Upon arrival, they found a 17-year-old male who had been shot in the leg.  Brown was taken into custody yesterday, along with another male juvenile. The other male juvenile taken into custody has a petition to transfer to adult court filed in another case.
