Illinois Central College and Peoria County have teamed up once again to present the Learn w/ Peoria County program, a series of courses free to the public on a variety of topics led by County government employees and officials. Topics include finding property information, personal safety, emergency preparedness, and more. The complete list of spring and summer semester courses is included below.
These free programs require registration through ICC’s website, by calling ICC at (309) 690-6900, or in-person at ICC North’s Hickory Hall, located at 5407 N. University St. in Peoria. Specific links for each course are listed in the descriptions attached.

In a world full of distractions, being situationally aware and attuned to our environment is not always at the forefront of our minds. Join Sheriff Watkins as he talks through the importance of Situational Awareness as it applies to home, public places, suspicious activity, the behaviors of those around us, and making the safest decisions when facing a threat or issue of concern.

March 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM – Protecting Our Animals: A Peoria County Animal Shelter Tour
Want to learn how you can help abandoned, neglected, or abused animals in our own community? Director Becky Spencer of Peoria County's Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) will describe volunteer opportunities, explain animal control laws, and discuss such issues as overpopulation and inhumane care. Take a guided tour of the animal shelter and meet four-legged friends available for adoption or currently receiving care, including dogs, cats, and small or unusual animals. Most importantly, learn how you can help ensure all animals get the loving care they deserve.

August 9, 2023 at 6:00 PM – Finding Property Information in Peoria County
Did you know that residents can easily find out property information, subdivision plants, and various maps all through Peoria County’s Front Desk application? Front Desk, which underwent a significant upgrade in 2022, is available through the County’s website and is free of charge. This workshop will guide users through looking up property characteristics, tax assessments, and residential sales. Interactive maps are also available through the Front Desk map application, including aerial photos, subdivision plats, streets, and topographic maps. Peoria County's Geographic Information Services (GIS) manager will demonstrate how to navigate the map application in this hands-on workshop. This program may require participants to bring a personal computer.
