Biography
Betty Duncan was appointed to the Peoria County Board on May 14, 2020.
For 35 years Duncan was employed at Caterpillar, last working as a Customer Support Analyst providing technical support worldwide before retiring in 2001. Employed in 2012 at the Central Illinois Agency on Aging, for two years Duncan was the Brookdale Foundation Coordinator for the support program, Relatives As Parents Program, which serviced six counties throughout Illinois including Peoria County.
After transferring from Illinois Central College, Duncan went to Bradley University in 2015 where she majored in Art History and minored in Religious Studies.
Duncan is an active member of Cornerstone Gospel Church where she serves as a Deacon and the Sunday School Superintendent, all the while supporting the Ageless and the Nursing Home Ministries.
Duncan was born and raised in Peoria, and currently reside on the near northeast side of Peoria. She is the mother of four sons and one daughter, a grandmother of six grandchildren; and foster parented over 19 children.
With the diversity of responsibilities associated with the position of a County Board Member, Duncan’s strength, character, and works have prepared her to meet the challenges of such a position.
