Public Involvement, Education, and Outreach

Peoria County belongs to the Central Illinois Committee on NPDES (CICN), which is a collective group of local agencies working to comply with the Illinois EPA's NPDES Phase II Storm Water Regulations. Please visit the CICN Website to learn about the group and what is being done to eliminate pollution in our rivers, streams, and watersheds.

Routine Annual Monitoring

Peoria County performs routine annual visual monitoring of the Kickapoo Creek inside the urbanized area to check for pollutants that are entering the watershed.  If pollutants are found, Peoria County will contact the IEPA to locate and eliminate the source of the pollution.
