Please Keep Drop-Off Sites Clean!
- Place accepted materials in bins only, not on the ground next to them. Bins may seem full, but more materials can usually be shoved inside.
- Break down and flatten cardboard boxes.
- Do not unload garbage, tires, furniture, yard waste, or electronics. There are other appropriate recycling and disposal options for these items.
- Keeping drop-off locations tidy encourages host sites to continue being partners in recycling!

Many stores will take back their plastic bags, including Hy-Vee, Kroger, Schnucks, Wal-Mart, and Target. Other stores, such as Goodwill, will take them for reuse.
Do not put plastic bags in your recycling cart. These act as a tangler and can damage sorting machines.
Everybody knows that plastic bottles can be recycled, but what about their caps? Yes, they can be recycled!
Thanks to improved sorting processes, we can recycle plastic bottle caps with no added effort! Just empty the contents of the bottle, put the cap on, and toss it in the recycling bin. In fact, this works for shampoo bottles, laundry detergent, peanut butter jars, and most common household items too. As always, check locally to see what your local recycling program accepts.
Plastic bottles and containers can be placed curbside or taken to a drop-off center. Containers labeled #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #7 can all be recycled.
Do not put plastic bags, toys, straws, lids or plastic utensils in recycling. These should be thrown away.
Empty and rinse all containers or residual food or product.
